APW Celebrates 20 years with a Scholarship!

On Friday, September 27th at Hashtag Gallery in Toronto the Animation Portfolio Workshop community was out in full force to celebrate 20 years with a bash and an art show.  Drawings and artwork by past and present instructors and TA’s who have taught at APW over the years were on display.  APW grads who have moved on to animation and art related careers, APW instructors and TA’s, friends and fellow animation educators all reconnected and caught up.  An absolutely fantastic event.

We are so proud of our grads and are over-joyed to witness the very personal connection to APW that they share.   An emphasis on drawing has always been central to the APW experience and our demanding workshop learning model has continued to form a base for a strong bond that we are delighted to be a part of.

Gerard Sternik one of the founders and directors of Animation Portfolio Workshop took the opportunity to officially launch the O’Keefe Scholarship.  APW has partnered with a very special APW grad named Patrick O’Keefe from Sony Pictures Animation.  Upon finishing his work as Art Director on the ground-breaking Oscar-winning animated feature “Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse”, Patrick joined with APW and Gwartzman’s Art Supplies to create a very special and unique scholarship designed to offer an opportunity to a young Toronto art student with drive, passion and interest but not necessarily the means to pursue their craft and realize their potential.  The O’Keefe Scholarship will award full tuition for the 2020 APW Session, mentoring with Patrick O’Keefe via skype for the duration of the course and free art materials for the course from Gwartzman’s Art Supplies.

O’Keefe Scholarship – One opportunity can change everything.
