Classes in drawing take place at St. Matthew’s United Church 729 St. Clair W from Monday to Friday 10am – 5pm for two months. We wish to match students who need a home-stay with hosts in the area of Toronto close to St. Clair Ave/Christie St.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average age of APW students?
Our students can be as young as 16 and as old as 25 but the average age is 18 or 19.

Where do your students come from?
Most of our students for the Summer and Winter Intensives are international students coming from the US, Brazil, Mexico, China, India, Europe and occasionally other Canadian Provinces or towns outside of Toronto.

Do your students speak English?
Yes. The drawing classes at APW are taught in English.

What course do your summer students take?
It’s an 8 week long intensive drawing workshop in drawing and preparation for animation school.

Can you find another placement if it doesn't work out?
No we cannot.  Our priority is the successful running of our drawing instruction programs.  We are not a home-stay agency.  This service that APW offers – matching a reliable host with an APW student – ends once the student and host make and confirm their home-stay arrangements with each other.  It is important that you find out as much as you need to know about the student before you agree to host them.

Do I have to provide meals?
It really depends on the age of the student.  We need a certain number of homes that do provide meals – especially for our younger students.  Mature students are able to prepare their own meals if they have access to a kitchen. The meal plan options are outlined on our Homestay Host forms.

Have you experienced any problems with any of your students at their Homestay placement?
No. Our students are respectful and very dedicated art students who devote much of their free time to working on their drawing.
