APW wants to recognize the boundless creativity, care and honest effort each young artist has put into designing and posing such interesting, funny and original characters. The job of choosing the winners was not an easy one for APW special guest judge Toronto animation art director Aaron Hong.  After hours of looking carefully at all of the entries, Aaron has chosen the 2017 APW Character Design Contest winners!

1st Prize - Alisen Montoya

Alisen is a student at Mayfield Secondary School in Caledon, ON.  She wins free tuition for the 2017/2018 session of APW.

2nd Prize - Michelle Cheng

From Markham ON, a student at Bayview Secondary School, Michelle wins Toon Boom Harmony - an opportunity to animate her characters and bring them to life.

3rd Prize - Milly Hong

From U of T in Toronto ON, Milly wins Toon Boom Storyboard Pro - opportunities to create animation film sequences from her imagination using her own characters.

4th Prize - Reyna Lu

From Bayview Secondary School, Reyna wins $300 worth of art supplies that should keep her drawing and character designing for a long time.

5th Prize - Anna Xing

Anna is a student at Bayview Secondary School in Richmond Hill, ON.  Anna wins passes for herself and a friend to take in Anime North 2017.

Honorable Mention - Rizva Ahmed

Rizva is a student at Glenforrest Secondary School in Mississauga, ON. Rizva wins 10 free APW Open Life Drawing sessions.
