APW wants to recognize the creativity, care and honest effort each young artist has put into designing and posing such interesting, funny and original characters. The job of choosing the winners was not an easy one for APW special guest judge Toronto story artist Myke Bakich.  Thankful for Myke's efforts, we give you the 2016 APW Character Design Contest winners!

1st Prize - Ellyna Patterson

Ellyna is a student at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Tottenham, ON.  She wins free tuition for the 2016/2017 session of APW.

2nd Prize - Franses Nyarko-Mensah

From Toronto ON, Frances wins Toon Boom Harmony - an opportunity to animate her characters and bring them to life.

3rd Prize - Melissa Avalos

From De La Salle College Oaklands in Toronto ON, Melissa wins Toon Boom Storyboard Pro - opportunities to create animation film sequences using her own characters.

4th Prize - Lawrence Bangcola

From Hamilton ON, Lawrence wins $350 worth of art supplies to fuel his further drawing and character designing for a long time.

5th Prize - Christy Deng

Christy is a student at Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute in Scarborough, ON.  Christy wins passes for herself and a friend to take in Anime North 2016.

Honorable Mention - Nicholas Lamanna

Nicholas is a student at Senator O'Connor College School in Toronto, ON. Nicholas wins 10 free APW Open Life Drawing sessions.
